So, we become chemists.

So, as it turns out, natural food coloring can be challenging. As we strive to create a business that is not only unique but true to the values we hold, there's lots of hurdles along the way. There's no way, we as people, would feel right baking goodies that we aren't proud of. I grew up in a home where parties were centered around quality, home cooking and baking. Our cakes, cupcakes and miscellaneous desserts were always momma made! And as a result we were fortunate enough to skip out on the artificial colors and flavors that are so common in baked goods. Well, really all food. We believe in staying down to earth in all aspects of our lives, including our baking and what we choose to bake for you. So, that means we become chemists! Natural food coloring has pH and chemical properties that can actually result in the color changing! So when Mary orders that lemon cake that she wants to look purple and the purple color reacts with the lemon (acid) and it isn't in fact purple, but some other color, that is not good... So. We become chemists. But we're excited to meet this challenge head on and conquer it. Stay tuned!
